"Dedicated To The Preservation of the Breed"

OWLS HEAD, MAINE

June 29, 2008

The Transportation Museum in Owls Head, Maine is having a Ford Festival on June 29th to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Ford Model T. On the events list for the Museum it is listed as “Model T’s to Mustangs. The museum is VERY interested in having our club display our mustangs.

There are many club members who have expressed interest in making the trip to Maine. I envision us going on Friday June 27th arriving in the afternoon, dinner on Friday night, Saturday taking in some of the sights of the beautiful Penobscot Bay, Saturday night on your own or with friends, ending with Sunday at the Museum and possibly staying Sunday night if you want before the drive home. Or just join us whenever you can!!

So…with that being said I need to know who is interested so I can contact the museum and also try to find group rates for hotels. I know it is only January, but I would need to know numbers now for planning.

You can check out the Museum’s website at www.ohtm.org

Also watch for updates at www.mccne.com as planning will be well under way before the second newsletter will be in your mailbox.

Please contact Nancy Ferrauto at Bignanc1230@aol.com or give me a call at home 860-749-0325. Hope to hear from you soon!!!

Owls Head Weekend Update

You must make your hotel reservations by 4/26 if you want the discount!!!

All years of mustangs are welcome (not pre -1988) because we are coming as a group. Below is a preliminary outline for the weekend. Times have not been set for everything. If you have any suggestions, feel free to email me.

Friday 6/27

  • Meet at Seabrook, NH rest area on I-95. From this point it is about a 3 hour drive (150 miles) probably a little longer if we have a large caravan. Please make sure your pony has a full tank so we don’t have to stop right after we get going.
  • Lunch
  • Off to the hotel(s) for check-in and unwind. I am checking to see if we could get early check-in.
  • Off to the Marshall Point Lighthouse. This is the lighthouse that Forrest Gump ran to into the movie.
  • Lobster dinner right on the coast at either Waterman’s Beach Lobster or Miller’s Lobster.

Saturday 6/28

(This is the plan as of now may be subject to change)
  • Breakfast
  • Camden shopping
  • Lunch

  • Visit Cellador Winery
  • Dinner as a group

Sunday 6/29

  • Breakfast
  • 8:30am - Off to the museum for the Ford Festival. They are estimating over 2000 visitors each day. No estimates yet on exhibitors. There will be plenty of food at the festival to purchase for lunch. Festival goes to 5:00pm, but we are not required to stay until then.
